2009 Corvette Upgrades
By Administrator @ 7:48 AM :: 22 Views

After a milestone year in 2008 , the Corvette powers into 2009 with a raft of enhancements that further distinguish it and give customers more choices – including a lower-priced convertible model.
Of course, that range of choices also includes the ZR1, with its 6.2L supercharged engine that produces 638 horsepower (476 kW).
“The Corvette is an American icon with world-class credentials,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. “It’s the car we all aspire to own and the 2009 edition, with more choices and features, only amplifies that craving.”
The ’09 Corvette lineup includes the Corvette coupe and Corvette convertible, each powered by the 430-horsepower (321 kW) LS3 V-8, and the incomparable Corvette Z06. Equipped with the 505-horsepower (377 kW) LS7 engine and built on a lightweight chassis, the Z06 is a street-going descendent of the championship-winning Corvette racing program.

Sudbury District Motorsports Association

There have been various attempts by motorsports enthusiasts to develop and establish facilities that accommodate activities such as motocross, drag racing, snowcross, oval racing, etc. Unfortunately, both human and financial resources have prevented these venues from being established. Never have these enthusiasts collective come together in order to realize a facility that has the capacity for all of these uses.SDMA endeavors to do just that. We are looking for your support to realize this dynamic and exciting project.

Canadian Leaded Racing Fuel Ban
By Administrator @ 11:17 AM :: 372 Views

|
Environment Canada is looking to ban the use of lead within racing fuel. This is an entirely uneccessary pice of legislation and is based on no scientific evidence, not to mention threatening the continued development of motorsports within Canada.
If you would like to oppose this please sign up for SEMA (SAN) www.SEMA.org go to legislation and find the Canadian section. Sign up now.
Please also write to the address below using the information below as a guide line.
Opposition to the Leaded Racing Fuel Ban
- Environment Canada relies on no scientifically documented test data that provides evidence that increased exposure to emissions created from leaded gasoline causes adverse health effects. In fact, there is no evidence that racing competitions result in increased exposure at all.
- Competition motor vehicles use only 1.5% of all leaded gasoline consumed in Canada. The aviation industry, which owns a permanent exemption from the ban, accounts for the other 98.5%.
- The U.S., U.K. and Australia have not seen the need to enact a similar ban. U.S. race teams, which constitute a significant majority of drag racers that compete in Canada, will not convert their vehicles to compete in Canadian events.
- According to data compiled by the International Hot Rod Association, drag racing competitions and related expenditures by race teams, event organizers and tourists among others brings with it a multi-million dollar windfall for regions hosting these events.
Contact the Department of the Environment and Chief, Fuels Section to voice your opposition to this proposed regulation.
These comments are due before Feb. 13, 2008.
